The
2nd graduation ceremony of 26 women from the Technical
Training Centre that is managed by Tata Steel in
collaboration with the District Administration was
organised today at Seraikela. The chief guest for the
occasion was Mr. Mohan Lal Roy, District Commissioner,
Seraikela - Kharsawan District who gave away the
certificates and lauded the efforts of the trainees.
The trainees that graduated out today comprised of 26
women who have gained expertise in computer application
and Internet. Some of the prominent modules which the
trainees mastered are MS Office (Word, Excel ad
PowerPoint), Tally, Hindi software, Net Working,
Printing, Internet browsing and E mail. During the
course of the training, the women were also encouraged
to participate in cultural activities which received an
overwhelming response. They were given safety training
and health awareness lectures.
While
addressing the gathering present, Mr. Mohan Lal Roy - DC
(Seraikela - Khasawan) said, "We are very happy that
Tata Steel has taken up the responsibility of providing
technical training to the youth of this district which
will help them get employment. Everybody wants
employment and these training institutes will enable
them to get jobs in industries. With Tata Steel taking
steps towards industrialisation of the Seraikela -
Kharswan district, we will provide them all the support
that is required to develop and evolve this area."
Mr. J P Singh, Head - Jharkhand Steel Project, Tata
Steel congratulated the women graduating from the
institute and said, "It is an honour for Tata Steel
to provide training to the younger generation and help
them become self - reliant. On one hand as Tata Steel
wants to industrialise the state of Jharkhand by setting
up its steel plant, it is also equally concerned about
the development of the areas and communities in
Seraikela. Technical Training Centres like this will
generate skilled manpower that can be utilized during
the development of Jharkhand."
Jharkhand Steel Project - Tata Steel had started a
Technical Training Centre at Rajbandh, in Seraikela in
collaboration with the District Administration for the
technical Upgradation of the local youth in different
trades - Masonry, Electrician and Computer Training. The
initial batch had 18 electricians and 17 masons, who
have been selected by different firms through the
process of campus selection. The testimony of the
success of this programme is visible in the Technical
Training Centre itself, where the trainees have modified
the entire electrical wiring system and reconstructed
various mason related jobs.
Since the above training programme was only for
unemployed boys, the second programme of computer
training was planned for the girls within the age group
of 18 - 30 years. The 26 shortlisted trainees underwent
rigorous training for 6 months with special emphasis on
attitudinal and personality development, spoken English,
hands on training and Industrial exposure.
