Mr Anand Sen was born on 17th September 1959. He graduated in Metallurgical Engineering from IIT Kharagpur in 1981 and pursued a Postgraduate Diploma Course in Business Management from IIM Kolkata in the year 1987.

He started his career as Graduate Trainee at Tata Steel in the year 1981 and worked in Scientific Services initially. In early 1984, he was selected as Application Engineer and was posted to Mumbai. In July 2001 he was placed as Chief of Marketing & sales - Flat Products. Currently, Mr Sen is holding the post of Vice President, Flat Products & TQM.

Mr Sen's achievements in the metallurgical field include establishment of supplies of high-end cold rolled coils. He has also facilitated import substitution of automotive steel and has helped Tata Steel to achieve source approvals for supplies to auto majors. Mr Sen has been involved in the development of wide width galvanised corrugated sheet, dent resistant steel and auto applications like skin panels and high tensile steels in the company. He also played a pivotal role in the development of galvanised material for the automotive industry. He has spearheaded the redesigning of the distribution philosophy of Tata Steel leading to increased market share in the steel roofing segment.

Mr Anand Sen has contributed in many technical papers and journals. Mr Sen was awarded the Essar Gold Medal in 2004 at Indian Institute of Metals. He is also an active member of many academic bodies including the executive committee of Indian Institute of Management, Kolkata Chapter, International Iron & Steel Institute packaging committee, Project Review Committee of Institute for Steel Development and Growth and also the IIM national committee for resource mobilisation.
